New MSIE error message

Hello. I'm running Windows SP Pro. Recently, I started getting error messages
at times when I closed down my MS Internet Explorer version 6.0.2800. The
message always reads as follows:

"dde server window: iexplore.exe - application error"

The instruction at "0x77f8b272" referenced memory at "0x09180030". The
memory could not be "read".

It doesn't happen all the time but it happens enough to be somewhat annoying.

I've already done 3 separate spyware/malware scans with different scanners
and 2 virus scans with both Norton and McAfee to make sure that something bad
didn't invade my machine. Nothing of significance was found in any of the
scans. Does anyone have an idea on what could be causing the error message
and what could be done to fix it it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

I am getting the same error message. At the same time, IE unexpectedly
closes and I don't know what the cause is. At times I can't get IE to even
stay open long enough to connect to my home page. Very frustrating.

The title suggests to me that another application is causing this error.
Any idea which one?

The crash address could be within shlwapi.dll

In fact one known cause of crashes within that module, though not
usually manifested like this, is leaving Outlook Express troubleshooting
logging active when a link is being stopped.

If you want to diagnose this further search my posts for keywords
stack back trace drwtsn32.log
for hints on how to see what other modules might have been involved.
