new message and reply icon's are greyed out. What do I do?

Today whilst using outloook 2003 the icons for new message and all reply
icons have been greyed and are unavailable to use. I have checked all my
email configuration and that is ok. Can't get into options to check
everything there. Any ideas??

Have you already tried clicking them nevertheless. I often see this
happenening when located in Public Folders. The buttons are greyed out
but still clickable.
