I've recently added 512 Mb DDR SDRAM to a computer running Windows XP professional (previously with 256 MB). Windows and all my programs work wonderful once they get started up. However, there is a big problem when restarting the computer. It's ok until the desktop appears, then the computer seems to freeze & think very long & hard about something. I can't say what because the task manager doesn't show anything running. Also, it's not the whole computer that's frozen, just the taskbar & start menu; everything on the desktop itself works fine. Removing the RAM has no effect on this. Can you help me to resilve this?

Goto the properties of local area connection and highlight tcp/ip and select
the properties button in the ip box put in any ip address *make one up* and
click the subnet mask and put in a 255.255.255.0 or 255.255.255.255 what ever
works.
