Does anyone know how to leave the system tray new mail
icon on while having the pop-up new mail off?
 
Sigh, what version of Outlook are you using?

The reason for the "sigh" is that people don't post their version and it
takes us an extra mail or 5 to finally get the information we need to answer
the question. Including the version in the original post helps cut down the
number of back and forths.

Tools->Options->Email Options->Message Handling->Display a notification...
