New Layout?

Good afternoon,
While I am not an MVP, I am a frequent user of the MS Communities Newsgroups. I have a fairly quick (T1 or better) internet connection. However, the new format/layout is just destroying my speed. Why the change?

I don't mind using Passport to login - I think that's a great idea to cut down on the spam (of course, Google and dbforums need to make themselves less susceptable as well).

Does anyone else feel my pain?

Thank you.
Derek

Many of us have told Microsoft that we feel NNTP, with a proper newsreader,
is a far more appropriate approach than a web interface.

Doug,
Problem is not everyone has access to a news reader. For example, I use Agent at home, but at work, our IS dept ( we call them Fort Knox) will not allow news service through NNTP. So I for one am stuck with web based.

By the way, I don't particually like the new layout either. But like anything else, I'll get used to it.

We feel your pain. We know about the performance issues on the Worldwide Newsgroup Index (URL starts with communities2) and we're working through them. Is that the URL you're using?

Thanks.

Derek, during deployment we had some configuration issues that were impacting performance in a big way. We've fixed these and it should be working a lot better. What do you think?
