I have a computer without an operating system and just
bought xp home edition. I turned the computer on put the
cd. How do you get it to load?

You will need to set your boot order in the bios to boot from CD before hard
drive. See link below for step by step.
You boot from the CD and do a clean install.

when you turn on your computer on, you should be able to
press DEL key at a stage so you may be able to enter BIOS.
when inside BIOS you will need to set your boot sequence
so that your first bootable drive will be your CD. save
your changes then exit and restart the computer with your
windows CD in the drive, follow the prompts and install
windows on your formated space on your hard drive.

go into the bios and set it to boot from the CD. or
using another computer extract the setup files to flopy
disk. you can find this info on the Microsoft web site
