Put together an entirely new computer-

Motherboard: Asus A8V Deluxe Socket 939
Chipset: VIA K8T800 Pro
CPU: Athlon FX-53
Memory: 512MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM DIMMs x2
Video Card: ATI RADEON 9800 SE ATLANTIS 128MB DDR AGP 8X
DVI/TVO
SATA HDs: WD250 GB RAID 0 setup x2 / WD250 SATA setup x2
DVD RW Combo: Plexor PX712A
Card Reader:
CD-RW:

Here's the problem. I boot from the WinXP Pro install disk.
It begins to run setup. Then, at the hard drive
selection/partition screen, it asks me to select a
partitioned or unpartitioned space. I try to select by
hitting the down arrow as instructed only to get a blue
screen displaying the stop error:
"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA."

I can boot from a Linux disc and run a graphical interfaced
version of Debian NP Linux just fine. This leads me to
believe that this isn't a memory problem. I think WinXP Pro
(purchased today, but it's 2 year old software) isn't
compatible with some part of my harware setup.

Again, this error occurs at a very early stage in WinXP Pro
Setup. At that stage, to the best of my knowledge, nothing
has been written to the HDs. It is only when I try to
select a drive to partition that I get the stop error.

Is there some way to configure the BIOS to fix this
problem? Or is there a bigger problem here. I appreciate
any assistance on this. If a more detailed description of
the hardware setup is needed, then I can supply it. Thanks
to anyone who can help.

It might be due to the SATA Raid0 setup. See how it is set up in BIOS.
Try installing on only one HDD - no RAID0 - and see if it works to eliminate
other possible conflicts.
Just in case, are your memory sticks set in the correct memory bays - both
in the Blue or both in the black ones, i.e. A1B1 or A2B2?
Also, go in BIOS and set anything to Standard or Auto. Usually, this is a
driver related error. I get this error sometimes when I overclock my P4 on
Asus P4C800ED, 2x512MB HyperX blah blah.
I am not familiar w/ this new 939 mobos, but shouldn't you install the Sata
drives with F6 during XP setup? Besides, I remember reading somwhere that
you need XP SP1 for Sata/Raid.
Nice system you got there!
