Pam

I've had a computer crash -and so had to reformat and reinstall - when
setting up frontpage - it set up a directory under my account as MY WEBS -
when opening my webs live and then republishing on my harddrive they were
set up in MY WEBS - but I notice that when I make a form on one of the sites
from MY WEBS on my hard drive, it is now coming up with the error that the
form is being created on a 'disk-based web or the fp server ext have not
been configured to send email ----.....

and then asks if I want to remove the email addy which I say no and then
publish and everything works fine - I used to have a folder called
LOCALHOST - do I need to set that up again and move my webs from MY WEBS to
LOCALHOST - and if so, how do I set that up?

thanks
Pam

When you reinstalled FP did you also reinstall the FP Server Extensions under PWS or IIS?
Webs created under the FP SE are opened using http://localhost
(that's not a folder, but your local server under the FP SE)
Webs opened as C:\MyWebs are disc based webs - not server based

If you have the FP SE running (under IIS or PWS) open the disc based web and publish it to http://localhost

Depends on your OS
Win98/NT you need PWS from the FP CD
Win XP Pro you need IIS (from Win Cd) and FPSE from below link

Just install IIS 5.1 from the XP PRO disk and then install the FPSE 2002 from the link
- you don't need to reinstall MSO/FP (unless you want to remove the FP2000 SE)

Just wanted to give an update and progress report for this problem - did as
you and Thomas suggested below - then rebooted, opened FP and tried to
create a web on the locahost - it gave me the error that FP had detected a
web server conflict on Port 80 which has server extensions for FP PWS but is
running MIIS/5.1 server. FP requires that you install the FP Server
Extensions.

SOOOOOO, I opened the MCC panel and right clicked on the folder 80 and
clicked on remove server extensions - praying all the while that this would
be the right thing to do (since Ihad spent 2 days trying to get this problem
straightened out and was cross eyed) ... rebooted, opened FP and began...and
BINGO! By GEORGE, I THINK I GOT IT! Everything seems to be working as
normal - just posting this update to thank you guys and to offer a happy
ending to anyone else with the problem!

Blessings to all!
Pam
