Juist reinstalled XP and a couple of unussual things have occurred.

1) I was getting a message from what the title bar indicated was 'Messenger
Service'
saying I had a corrupted registry and to go to registrycleanerxp.com and
correct the problem. Saying the problem could cause data loss....
Anyone ever get this???

2) XP installed but when I tried to activate the product it told me the
Product Key's
use has been used beyond the limit and I needed to put in another Product
Key.
I've reinstalled XP probably 6 times on this system (might be more.)

Any help will be appreciated.

James

So you installed XP without SP2 while connected to the net and already have
malware......nothing new happens a lot.
Install your anti virus....anti spyware....anti adaware.....firewall.Run it
and and malware begone.

As for Activation....use the phone number that shows up and explain the
situation.I have done this at least 6 times as well.
Then update to SP2.........

After installing xp I install antivirus - Scan then sp 2.
This happened fast!
Got activated.

This is not a Virus....its adware/malware
You need a different program to kill it
SpyBot Search&destroy
Adaware by Lavasoft
Spyware Blaster
all free download and install all three....update them and then run them
You will find them with Google
or Sunbelt's CounterSpy....costs but cheap and it works actively

Ok.

Thanks,
James

Reinstalled XP and a couple of unussual things have occurred.

This was a re-install of XP not XP SP2?

Do a web search for slipstreaming SP2 to create a bootable cd-rom with XP
SP2 on it. Slipstreaming is mentioned in the Microsoft knowledgebase, so
apparenlty Microsoft approves of this.

Still there are a lot of updates. After an initial install, there are 78
windows updates for XP SP2, and it takes a few reboots and update cycles to
get the rest.
