Hey, just at the topic says, whenever I open my computer from sleeping, it
changes the resolution from 1280x800 to 1024x768, and its really starting to
make me mad.

I checked through some posts here to see if anyone else had any problems
like mine, and I noticed that I should update my driver for my video card,
turns out Vista had an update for me for the card. Installed it and it is
still doing it...

For the record, its a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 on an HP Pavilion dv2000.

I'm stumped, please someone help! Thanks.

I have a dv2000t with aNVIDIA GeForce Go 7200 card. I sometimes get a
temporary resolution change when leaving sleep mode. After the little post
sleep mode hiccup, the resolution is normal. Happens 20-30% of the time. I
am using an external monitor.

There are other post sleep mode inconsistencies such as a sometimes slow
recogition of blue tooth mouse and keyboard. Seems to me that Vista has
lots of small bugs.

An NVidia driver downloaded and installed today. Perhaps this addressed the
resolution problem.

just checked, and i didn't see any new drivers for Nvidia, but i'll keep
checking.

it seems to do it off and on, like theres some type of setting or something
i need to change somewhere...it's really odd.

Yeah, mine does the same thing, except its a Dell and its 1900x1200 to
1024x768. I get so frustrated over it. When I start it up, it changes, and it
annoys me so much. Mine is also new.

My new Dell (Inspiron E1505) also has the problem. It's really obnoxious
becaue whether it blips back after a moment or whether it stays there, it
goes and moves everything on the desktop; have to sigh and reorganize all the
icons and gadgets. =(

A solution would be nice... so bumping this. *hopes*

I had the same problem with my Dell e1505... i was trying to figure
out if it was Vista's fault or my nVidia card.

I tried solving it by changing some of the default settings in the
registry. I think Vista is using them to change to a "safe"
resolution after waking up.

I changed the default X and Y resolution values in the 2 following
registry entries:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Hardware Profiles\Current
\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\VIDEO\{65CA1B3E-
F9D1-49DF-9163-4DF2A4665A90}\0000

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Hardware Profiles\0001\System
\CurrentControlSet\Control\VIDEO\{65CA1B3E-
F9D1-49DF-9163-4DF2A4665A90}\0000\Mon00000118

This seems like it might have helped stop the problem... I'll
experiment some more, let me know if this works for you guys.
