Recently trashed my old computer (Win98) and now have WinXP.

Same cable internet connection: Cox.

Current version of OE: 6.00xxx

Here is my one and only problem/question (with newsgroups) since I changed
computers....

When I go to a Newsgroup and open a message, I always get window that says I
must click on a link to download (open/view) it.

Is there not an option somewhere which will download, and open, ALL messages
in a selected OE NG?

Go to your newsreader (Outlook Express) and set up your news server. One way
is to go to Outlook Express\Tools\Accounts\News\Add and follow the prompts.
The NNTP server name is msnews.microsoft.com. Once you set up that box it
will then download all the groups on that server. You then can select the
newsgroups that you want to participate in . Make sure you also select
Subscribe after selecting the group. To come back to this group that
discusses Outlook NOT Outlook Express scroll down to
microsoft.public.outlook. That is all there is to it. You are now presently
using a Web based news server that is why you posting your question..

Thanks for the reply and try ... but nope, no can understand or do.

Try posting in an OE group.

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

If you're accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services Community Newsgroups web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number.

From what I understand from his original post and I hope I am right, he does
not know how to get to the
microsoft.public newsgroups through the NNTP servers. He is using a Web
interface and that is his issue. He wants to be able to

Please reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others.

Perhaps I am in the wrong newsgroup and/or perhaps I was unclear in my
original post/question. I thought *this* was an outlook express newsgroup.
Sorry if incorrect. I'll try another

Meanwhile, to clarify (I think) my original question:
1) I view/join a newsgroup
2) When viewing the messages in that newsgroup they *do* appear (top right
pane of window). But
3) When I click on a message I am shown in the bottom right pane a message
that says "Outlook Express has not downloaded this message. Please click
here (<- a link) or press the space bar."

When I do either, the message appears. I never had to click a link or press
the space bar for messages to download/appear on my previous computer.

Is there a way to get around this?

Hopefully this clarifies my prior inquiry.

This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
