I am building a new PC to replace my old one, and
installing XP Pro on a new hard drive (120GB SATA
Maxtor). Every time the process comes to a reboot, it
fails to reboot saying there is a missing NTLDR file. I
can't copy the file over, and have not found a way to
work around this. Ideas??

If you're using a ghost program to load xp on your new pc it will not work.
start with a clean install.

It is a clean install on a new hard drive. There is no
floppy in the drive. The error message says a file
(NTLRD) is missing.

Time to get back to basics. I now assume that you
have nothing on your disk that needs to be preserved,
and that you have only one hard disk. I would now do
this:
1. Get a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.
2. Boot the machine with this disk.
3. Use fdisk.exe to create a 10 GByte primary FAT32 partition.
4. Use fdisk.exe to mark this partition as "active".
5. Reboot with the Win98 boot disk.
6. Run this command:
format c: /q /u /s
7. Reboot the machine from the hard disk.

Your PC should now boot into a Win98 DOS prompt.
If it does not then you may have a problem with your
BIOS or with your hard disk. Download & run the free
disk diagnostic program from your disk manufacturer's
home site.

Why can't you copy? When the system displays on booting a message of
"missing" NTLDR or NTDETECT, you can copy these files via Recovery Console
from the CD-ROM.
