Fitting a new HD with, and because I couldn't get get it to boot after
using Ghost, a fresh copy of XP. Do I have reload all the apps etc for
the motherboard?

David - who is really annoyed that Ghost wouldn't work as he now has to
reload scores of his apps etc (I backed up all my data tho)

I would image the old drive over to the new one, then do a repair install
of XP so the new hardware is properly detected. (It's still better to
just do a fresh install however.)

The bottom line is that you're probably better off reloading
all your apps. When I did a mobo + HD change, I did a repair
installation and let the wizard that came with the new HD
move all my applications etc to the new drive. Unfortunately
it didn't quite work. A lot of the applications were
"hard-wired" to the old HD and were constantly going to it
for their program modules etc.

Tried that = nbg - but thanks for the idea
