new HD is recognized as Local Disk E instead of C

A Win XP pc suffered a HD crash. Put in new HD and reinstalled. However,
the new HD is recognized as Local Disk (E) instead of Local Disk (C). I am
having problems with drivers for the Ethernet card and the video and others.
Is that because the Local Disk (C) is not there anymore? How do I fix that?

No, your network adapter problems are unrelated to the system
drive letter. Since you have installed Windows on drive E:, you're
stuck with this letter unless you prefer to redo the job.

drive letter. Since you have installed Windows on drive E:, you're
stuck with this letter unless you prefer to redo the job.
 
To get the new HD recognized as the C Drive, do I need to just reinstall
Windows or first reinstall the HD?

Reinstall Windows AFTER you disconnect/remove the removable drives. (all
items like Flash drives, Zip drives and Printers with memory card adapters)
