just got a second hard drive. I installed in and
everything went okay and i see that the hard drive is
there when it is booting up. Next i tried to go into my
computer but i didn't see the drive. So what i did next
when go into computer management and looked under
stroage. I saw that the second drive was there but it
said unallocated space. how do i fix so this so i can
use the drive?

Format it, probably with the CD that came with it. Sometimes RTFM is a good
thing.

Also, if you happen to get a copy of Partition Magic, this helps make your
life easier. I have a 180GB hard drive that came up as only 130GB. Ran it
thru partition magic -- made it into 2 partitions and it found my missing
GB's!

Please quote enough of the previous message to insure continuity of the
thread.

Since his motherboard and computer management see the hard drive PM is not
necessary.
As to your situation, it was probably because your motherboard bios didn't
support hard drives that size. Check you motherboard vendor for an updated
bios.

At that point right click in the Unallocated space and take Create
Partition. Choose the size (you may want to use the whole disk as one
or split it in two - think that out in advance) and carry on to format
it. Disks have to have partitions made and formatted according to the
system they will be used with
