Hi,
I've got PentiumII 350 MHz with SNI AG motherboard with PhoenixBios version
4.06 rev 1.06.1064. Recently I've got a new hard disk WD 80GB and I've
managed to install a XP and it works quite good but there is one problem:
system is booting forever... On the first screen that pops up there is bios
version in the top of the screen and in the bottom it says: <ESC> for
POST-screen. When ESC is pressed only than boot process starts and lasts for
five minutes at least.
How can I get rid of that message so boot process goes without it.
It occured to me to update bios but I cant find proper bios update on the
web. There are some sites that might have it but they are charging for that.
Thanx

The Esc message can probably be changed in your BIOS. It is probably not set
to "fast boot" (or similar). Try looking at your BIOS config.

Next, a 350Mhz machine is not really suitable for XP. You didn't say how
much memory you have but judging by the 350Mhz, I'd guess you have no more
than 128Mb. Also not suitable for XP. Under these conditions, a 5 minute
boot time sounds normal.

Are you not saying that with the old drive, the computer booted a lot
quicker? If it did, check the jumper setting on the WD hard drive.
