New guy needs assistance!!!

Hey everyone,
I made a post earlier but I'm not sure if it was successful . Anyway, I was downloading some files from kazaa yesterday and in the middle of the download I decided to cancel. The files show under "my shared folder" and they still indicate download with a long number followed by .DAT. My problem is that I want to delete all of them but am unable to. Computer keeps telling me the file or application is in use.

If anyone can help with my dilema that would be appreciated.

Boot into safe mode and delete there.
