my new computer seems to pay no attention to settings. example: I had two(2)
dvd software applications installed, when I started a dvd disc both would run
at the same time nomatter what I selected in the setup dialog box,
subsiquently uninstalled one of the programs. there are numerous other
examples of machine not paying attention to my settings. What does this
behavior mean? Jimmy J.

When you say that you change the selection in the dialog box was that
in the setup of the software that you were installing or is this in the
associations with file types or the autoplay menu ?

if it was anything other than the association with file types try
changing things there, you can get there by going to the control panel

the box comes from rt click on dvd drive(d:), then properties, then AutoPlay
Tab, then context type "DVD Movie", then Play dvd movie using intervideo
windvd. This is the action refered to in my origional question, is this not
the proper route for control of the dvd drive? Jimmy J.
