Last week I bought a new computer. Windows XP home/128
Ram/40 GB hard Drive with 6 GB used space so it is still
pretty empty. The problem is that the programs
(WORD/Outlook/IE/whatever....) all seem to open slow.
Even when there are NO other programs open. I
experienced this before on my old computer when I had
loads of programs open & at the time was daytrading &
had "live" data coming in. Not the case this
time....nothing is open. I've run a virus scan, although
I doubt it is anything like that as this is a new
computer.. Talking to techsupport is difficult at
best...please help!

One buy some more ram 128 is bare min. also go to start-
-run--type msconfig--ok--startup tab--uncheck everything--
apply ok restart computer--check box that shows up for
msconfig utility dont show again,--ok--then open your
antivirus and go to options look for run at startup and
turn it on--apply--ok thats all you need running in the
background anyway(you'll love how much faster it runs). If
you don't like it go back and check all the boxes back
and you'll be in the same spot as before, don't forget get
some more Ram,256 is good but ram is pretty cheap,I enjoy
512 or better or I find another box to work on .
