I got a new computer without an OS and would like to install the XP Home from my old computer on it. I'm not going to use my old computer anymore. Can I do this and will it activate on my new computer? thanks.

XP can only be installed on one machine, youll need to purchase a ne
copy, the new machines configuration and hardware will catch this thu
unableing to register for a license.

Greetings --

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not transferable),
simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on, and install
it onto the new one. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

Andrew,
Your information is wrong. Retail versions of XP can be installed as many
times and on different systems as long as it is only installed on one of the
systems at a time.
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the address box
