hello

i have a little problem. my cd rom in my toshiba laptop doesn't work anymore
so i tried to put a new into it. (actually i tried a dvd writer.)

it fits perfectly but when i start my pc i always get an error..

does somebody know if this is possible?

TIA

you may not be able to stick just any drive in. there also maybe some
type of setting that needs to be adjusted in the setup..cmos/bios. any
jumpers on that model?

Originally there was a TEAC cd rom in it, so i put also n TEAC model in it
but it doesn't do anything :(
no i can't find any jumpers. It has to be a setting but which one...:)

The two outside pins are the slave jumper. If you don't have a mini
jumper just wrap some strands of copper wire around those two pins.
No jumpers means it's set for master. Look at the drive you removed to
see what pins were jumpered.
