I'd been using the default Administrator account for months before finally
creating a new account with my name. Now, however, my personal files and
folders - including all of my favorites - are not under my name. Can I
transfer the files to my name? If so, how? Thanks in advance for any help.

What you need to do is copy the files and folders from this
location,
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator
into this location
C:\Documents and Settings\YourAccount

Since you can't use either the Administrator account or you new
account to perform this procedure, you'll have to create a
third account that is a Computer Administrator. You'll delete
this account once you've recovered your files.

Once you've created the new admin account you can log on with
that account and copy the contents of the first folder I listed
above into the second folder.

Here are a couple of web sites with more info:

Thanks for the help Nepatsfan. I was able to transfer all of my previous
files and folders to my new user account.

Hello Patricia,

Start computer in your old account (Admin)
Go to All Programs>Acessories>System Tools>Files and settings transfer wizard.
Select "Old Computer" and choose what files you want to transfer.
Make shure you have enough space in save location.

After it's done, start in another (new) account, and repeat process choosing
"New Comnputer", and point to saved file.
On finish, you're done.

To delete files from old account, just go to Control Panel>User Accounts
and delete user with option to delete all user files.
Windows demand to have two admin accounts for security reasons, so if they
don't let you delete first account, make another one which nobody will use.
