When after a crash, I reinstalled WIN XP PRO, I have been unable to acces "my
netwoek computers. There are three other pc,s on the network and they work
fine and see each other. This last one does not see itself, but is able to
get on the net through the lan connection.

I hav contacted the PC manugacturere (Dell) and they have no remedy and also
contcted microsoft who says to talk to Dell. Dell also says they do not
support the software, though they sold it to me!!!!!!

Can someone help before I attempt to reinstall the operating system.

Thanks,

The normal thing to do after re-installing Windows XP is to re-install
all of the required driver files that came with the computer. These may
include the network drivers along with others and one should be able to
find them on an utility cdrom. Was this done?

You can get on the internet, so your LAN adapter appears to be fine.

Did you install the computer in the same workgroup as the other two?
Right-click on My Computer and select Properties, then click on the Computer
Name tab. Look at the Workgroup the computer is in. See if the value is
the same as the Workgroup on the other two PCs. If not, click on the Change
button and set the Workgroup to what the other machines have, save your
setteings and restart the computer.
