The 1394 connection is for firewire, not ethernet. Please describe your
computer and how you connect to the Internet (broadband, dialup,
router, etc.) so we can give you focused troubleshooting.

I'm on qwest dsl, but i use a dialup with my notebook at my cabin. very slow
26.4 kb. Should i disable 1394 con.? I'm also having trouble with TCP/IP.

Forget about the 1394. It doesn't have anything to do with your problem.
Is your question about dialup or DSL? If you are asking about dialup,
does the computer work well at a different location? You may not be
getting good enough throughput at your cabin. If the computer dials up
well elsewhere, you know it is the phone lines at the cabin that are at
fault.

It is irritating to the people trying to help you to have to try and
pull details out of you over numerous posts. Go to at least the first
link above to get an idea of what information you need to supply in
order to get comprehensive answers. Then supply the information in your
next post.
