Networking XP Pro

I have tried to set up a home network using XP pro on 2 computers, PC and
laptop through internet router. Am able to find both comupters on both
machines, however the PC files shared are not accissable from the laptop.
Keeps popping up with permissions not granted. Have tried to disable
firewall, allow new users to connect, set up guest accounts without passwords
but nothing works. The PC can access the laptop and send info back and
forth, but the laptop can not get onto the PC. Both have internet access.
The PC has security package 2 for windows on it.

I apologise if this question has been asked before, am sure it is something
not too hard, appreciate the time.

First, determine whether simple file sharing is enabled or disabled on
the PC:

1. Open My Computer.
2. Click Tools | Folder Options | View.
3. Scroll to the end of the list of advanced settings.

If there's a check mark next to "Use simple file sharing", simple file
sharing is enabled. If there's no check mark, simple file sharing is
disabled.

If simple file sharing is enabled, type this command in the Start |
Run box to enable network access by the other computer:

net user guest /active:yes

If simple file sharing is disabled, create matching user accounts,
with the same user name and non-blank password, on both computers.
