is it possible to network two machines, one running XP Pro & the other
running XP Home? I am having the common ( from what I read here) problem of
'access denied' 'path not found' when trying to network a laptop (running XP
home) and the PC (running XP Pro).

The PC shows up in My Network Places, but I can't get to it (drive C is
shared). All I really want is to share the printer, but I know I have to be
able to get to the machine first and that is where the problem is, although
when I go through the Add a printer wizard, it shows the machine, but will
not show the shared printer connected to the machine.

Like I said I need to get the network working, then deal with the printer
problem (which will probably fix itself once I have network connectivity).

This setup of these two machines has the same username and password when
logging on? Is this a problem? Do they need to be unique?

So the only other question at this time is can I network XP Home with XP
Pro?

Thanks.

Sure, you should be able to network XP Pro and Home. Create the same username with the same password on both computers. or just enable guest account.

Chip,

What you described sounds like a permissioning problem, though there are other
possibilities. Please read these articles, which should get you a start to
solving the actual problem.
