Sigh...
It's been so busy at work I haven't been able to get to the secretarys
desktop to download the browstat and post the results here.

But I can't help but notice the large number of posts since Tuesday re
windows networks that no longer work.. and have the access denied message.
Computer on WinXP Pro SP2 Network Lost Ability to Access Workgroup

main computer no longer accessible

networking issue

Windows XP networking

I keep thinking SOMETHING must have changed.

Yet, I downloaded and installed SP2 months ago, and have no recent history
of windows updates.

Anyone have a clue as to what is going on?

There are many reasons for problems with Windows Networking. The XP SP2
firewall is one change that has caused a few problems. And some people have
hardware that does not have SP2 compatible drivers.

As far as one overall problem, that's not the case. Each reported problem has
different causes. There are simply a lot of people who need help. The volume
of people requesting help does rise and fall occasionally, but there may be
several non-technical reasons for that. I have dealt with 2 people in the past
week who have children coming home from school, and brought problems with them.

There are simply a lot of ways to make Windows Networking not work, and people
who need help.

You have to deal with each problem separately.
