i've got three laptops 2 with pro and 1 with home, i've been trying to
network them together using an ip sceme of 125.35.54.X, a 8 port switch, and
straight through T-568B standard cable, and still no success, any help would
be appreciated vermy much,
Randall

I assume you are using the XP Wizard to set it up. If so, de-activate the
firewall on each computer until the network is connected and each computer
sees each other. If not, then I'm afraid you may have to do a bit of reading
in order to ensure that the configuration of each computer is the same.

See if the information below helps.
Notice the _reserved for private networks_
125.35.54.x sure won't work.

IP break down

Categorically speaking only
(technically some are reserved net 10 etc.)

Class A 000 to 127
B 128 to 191
C 192 to 223
224.x.x.x classes are multicast, 127 is loopback etc., etc., etc.

· Reserved IP addresses for private networks
10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
