Networking with password not working

I have networked peer-to-peer 8 computers running XP-PRO,
XP-Home, ME, 98SE. The networking is working but everybody
is able to read the shared files on everybody's computers.
The 3 bosses want their files to be password protected and
only the staff with the passwords can access them. The 3
bosses are running XP-PRO. When I add users in their
computer with a password, the staff cannot access the XP-
PRO computer from a XP-Home computer and get a
message 'access denied'. Question: in th XP-PRO machine do
I use the same password as the user on the XP-Home
machine? or give a different password for accessing the
shared files? I tried both ways but the same thing happens.
What is the correct to setup password protection and
access in this situation?
Thanks.

I'm sorry, but Windows XP doesn't have password protection for network
access to shared files.

By default, XP Pro grants access to everyone on the network. You can
disable "simple file sharing" and then control access based on user
accounts. Ron Lowe and I have written a web page with details:

Tell your bosses that they should be running W98SE instead of XP.
XP PRO is way too advanced for PHBs. <G>

Or, you could just take Steve W's advice.
