I am wondering if you can connect directly over the internet to another
computer using tcp/ip. and wonder whats the settings would be to sort it out.
plz email me mailto:[email protected] as i need to know if you can do it
pretty soon.
thanks for looking, scotty

Can you do it? Sure.
Do you want to do it? NO WAY!

Unless you use a VPN or other secure tunneling method, both computers are
completely exposed to anyone who wants to hack into them.

You should research [google for VPN].

This is the preferred method to 'remote networking'.

By the way, do not post on a forum and ask for personal email replies: it's
just not the proper way.

You have now exposed your hotmail address to spammers, so watch out for an
increase in the level of spam.

ok i wont put my email address on future posts! but i still need to know how
to do it! not really bothered about security at the moment i just need to
know how to do it then once connected get the required security before
starting a constant connection. so if anyone could help please. thanks!!

As was noted by the others... Look at using a VPN...You can start with the built-in PPTP VPN
functionality of XP..

It really boils down to what exactly you want to accomplish? Remote file access, remote control of a
PC, something else? What OS is running at each end? Any firewall/NAT/router devices at either or
both ends? Etc...etc...etc...
