Hi Everyone
I have two business computers networked both using XP Pro. They have
worked great for the last two years. Today Computer "B" would not
connect to Computer "A". "A" works perfectly find with "B". On
Computer "B" when you click on a shared folder stored on "A" the
computer stalls and you are not able to click on any other icon on the
desktop or in the window. If you close the stalled window the computer
displays only the desktop background for 2 minutes then everything
returns to normal but still no access to computer "A". If you switch to
another log-in the network it still stalled. I created another Log-in
then reboot and the computer works great. I could move everything over
but would like to know what is happening to cause this. I ran norton
disk doctor and it did find an error with gapi32.dll.

Marco,

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall. There are other possibilities too. Read this
article with an open mind.

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

thank you for your reply Chuck. 3 days ago I uninstalled norton AV 2003
and installed Norton 2006. Norton 2006 was the problem it had to be
completely uninstalled in order to correct the problem and I now using
2003 again problem free.

Kewl. Thanks for the update.

The only thing better than being Norton 2006 free is being Norton free. I have
been that for almost a year now.

Watch out though. Norton 2003 may lack critical protection - 3 years in malware
is a loooong time! Consider using an alternate protection, if you can't get
Norton 2006 to work properly.
