I recently set up a wireless pc in my home which connects to a host wired
into my router. ( I also have a broadband modem attached to the router).

On the remote desktop, (XP on both) I had tried to remove IE a while ago
since it was my kids PC. When you go into add/remove programs and look to
the left under window components, Explorer has a checkmark but has 0 megs of
space(probably because I had tried to remove).

However, I am able to go to a control panel address window and type in
www.yahoo.com and it opens to the page.

My question is this.... How can it open to a web site if there is nothing in
the IE file. Is it picking up IE off the host PC that is hooked to the
broadband?

thanks, Ken

This option does not remove IE, it just removes the default shortcuts to it. IE is too tightly bound into the OS to be uninstalled.

Ok.. how do I restate the IE icon. I cannot find the program.

thanks, Ken

Go back to Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components and recheck the box. You can also create a shortcut to IEXPLORE.EXE This is usually located in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer.
