Hello. We have a home network and all of the PC's have
Windows XP Home installed on them, except for one which
has just been upgraded to XP Pro. My problem is, I can't
get the newly upgraded PC to network with any of the other
XP Home PCs so that I can copy files between them. Can
someone help me with this? Is this a limitation with XP?

Greetings Don,

Make sure the XP's firewall is disabled. It is only intended for direct
connections to the Internet. If you installed a third party firewall, make
sure it is properly configured for the local area network. Ensure NetBIOS
over TCP/IP is enabled on all computers. There is no limitation and all
version of Windows can be networked. If you are still having problems,
please explain and give us more details to what the problem is.

Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (NetBT)

If you are having problems, test your network shares by click Start, Run,
and type one of the following commands.

\\computer name

\\ip address

\\computer name\sharename

\\ip address\sharename

Thanks, Eric. This was very helpful. This and one other
thing fixed the problem. The connection speed between the
two PCs is slow, though. Is this normal for a 10/100
connection? It's taking 60 minutes to copy over about 2
gigs of information.
