I just got around to my second attempt to upgrade from XP Home SP1 to
SP2 since the first one failed a year ago. I was careful to prepare
carefully and this time it *seemed* to succeed, with a Success message
at the end. However, I have several serious problems, including the
following.

At first I could not get anything to display in my Networking
Connections folder. But eventually I followed these instructions
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825826&Product=winxp
and I was pleased to get it filled with my connections, including my
only active one (wireless LAN).

However, if I try Control Panel|Networking Connections, then my system
locks up, requiring a reboot. Also an application appears minimised in
my tray, something like 'System Information'. I use those words
because only the top half of the text is visible! It's corrupted in
some way. All I can do is use Ctl-Alt-Del to restart.

Hope someone can help me fix this please.

Hi Terry,
TRy this from the RUN command:
on the RUN Command Prompt text type this sfc /scannow and Press OK.
try also RUN chkdsk.exe.
Hope this helps
