i have 2 PCs

1. MINe runs XP PRO SP2 and has internet wired though my router.
2. Mom's runs XP PRO SP2 and the internet through a wireless card.

Is it possible to network these two computers even though they access a
network differently??

Yes, provided they both have IP numbers in the same subnet-range.

If you're going to share files from the wireless one, be particularly
careful about security. Set WPA encryption if possible.

Yes -- they both connect through the same router.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on each computer, which will make all the
necessary settings. If the Wizard detects the router's shared
Internet connection, tell it to use that connection. Otherwise, tell
the Wizard that the computers connect to the Internet through a
residential gateway (router).

Configure any firewall program (Norton, McAfee, ZoneAlarm, etc) to
allow access by other computers on the local network.
