Though my network works fine, my desktop can't see my netgear router
(RP614).

I have a simple network: I have DSL service. My desktop, notebook, and
printer server are connected by wire to my Netgear router.

Everything works fine. Both computers get on the Internet, and both
computers can print. (And I can scan to both comptuers.

I can log on to my router from my notebook, but I can't log on from my
desktop. ("Page cannot be displayed")
I can't ping the router from my desktop either.

Although I'm not really affected by this, as I can do all I want from the
desktop, it bothers me.

I spent a lot of time with Netgear on the phone, and they say its an
operating system problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Ken,
Just a bit more info would be good.......
How is the IP setup for the desktop - is it static IPs or DHCP. If DHCP
which is the DHCP server?
What is the Router's Ip and what is the Desktop's IP?
I assume the gateway device IP is setup on the desktop and related to the
router's IP address?
Have you compared TCPIP settings between the laptop and desktop to see if
there are any obvious variations?
Do you logon with the same user id/privileges on both systems?
I assume there are no access controls on the router that constrain the
address of the PC that can manage the router?

HTH.
