I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I set up
a Home Network. This is the only PC in the home. But
I want to share the printer with my brother from his
address. So he can use our Printer. Printing from
his computer at his house.
When I open My Network Places, MSHOME (Workgroup)
does not show up. When I click on view Workgroup
Computers, it sits there about 15 sec. and I get an error
message. Here is what it says.
MSHOME is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the Administrator of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of
servers for this workgroup is currently not available.
But when I open My Computer, I type in in the address line
\\Computer name, it shows shared resources & files. But when
I click on one for example, Excel Samples, it sits there for about
15 sec. and gives me an error. Here is what it says.
\\Computer Name\share name is not accessible. You might not
have permission to use this network resource. Contact the
Administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The Network Path was not found.
Can someone help me? Should I have created a home network just to
share my printer? Or can I do that without setting up a network. How
can I set permission or access rights to this network? Can someone
point me in the right direction? I await your replies.
Warmest Regards,
Andrew Altshue
