network setup wizard

When I run network s. wwizard to set up a network between my new (XP) laptop and my win98 desktop, it tells me that it needs to write a file to run on the win98 m/c, but says I have no "floppy drive or other removable media" so it can't do it, although there is a data cd in the cd re-writerand I can read and copy files. I'm sure there must be an answer though Acer can't help.
 
Try a floppy disk in your a: drive
