I am having trouble setting up a home network. The host computer is running
Win XP and the second computer is running Winn 98. I use the wizard to run
the program on the host and use the Win CD to run the program on the second
computer. When I click finish and go to my network places nothing shows in
the window and when I clik to show workgroup computers the computer freezes.
On the Second computer the only computer that shows is the second computer.
Can someone help me. Thanks, Ray Holt

When setting up a network in XP, it is IMPERATIVE that you read each window
that comes up and follow what it says. Eg, have firewalls OFF, any resource
you want to share (Internet, printers etc) ON and then set it up on the XP
machine first. Once it is all done and you have rebooted, make sure all
those shared resources are back online and then start on the 98 machine.

One tip that helps enormously - uninstall NETBEUI from the 98 machine *OR*
if you like using it, install it on the XP machine as Netbeui doesn't come
ready to use with XP. MS decided not to support it any longer.

I have 4 machines on a home lan using XP home on 2 machines and 98SE on the
other 2 all using Internet and sharing printers. I use ICS and TCP/IP only.
