network settings bad or corrupt

here is the problem. I was at school downloaded the newest update to my laptop. security. Now my connection will not work on any lan, for example my home network my school my work. I have tried to do some of the things mentioned like renewing the ip address, no luck, flush the dns cache (flushed but no luck). I am very new to this and am afraid I will not be able to fix this. I have also read some other users have had this problem too with windows xp pro. It sounds as if it is a tcp/ip coruption but how do i fix this???
 
i run a nic card and a wireless b card as well for work
the 100 meg is home and school

with 10 but not 100 speed. Toshiba is still working on
the fix for the driver.
