Windows XP uses the TCP/IP protocol by default, and that's all you
need for Internet access and File and Printer Sharing. Don't install
any other protocols. For more information, see:

Run XP's Network Setup Wizard on each computer, giving it the
appropriate response when it asks how the computer connects to the
Internet. One computer will be the gateway, and the others will
connect to the Internet through the gateway computer. To get started:

To protect your network from access by other Internet users, enable
XP's Internet Connection Firewall on the gateway computer's Internet
connection. To allow File and Printer Sharing between your computers,
