Jeff

I have just reformatted my hard drive, reinstalled my
software and restored my previous files (Via Outback Plus
4) to Outlook 2002. Now, whenever I click "send and
receive", I get a prompt to "enter network password".
However, the other accounts on my computer (Win XP) do
not get this when they check their email. I do have
Office 2000 installed, and Outlook 2002 (I got the latter
with my Pocket PC). I've downloaded all of the office
updates except for the Outlook 2000 update (since I'm
running 2002), yet it still happens. Any suggestions? I
have tried several registry fixes to no avail. Thanks in
advance.

HI Jeff,
THE SAVE PASSWORD SETTING IS NOT SAVED WHEN YOU CONNECT TO A POP3

1. START | RUN | regedt 32
2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider
3. Mark this key SECURITY | PERMISSIONS | ADVANCED
4. In the Access Control Settings for Protected Storage System Provider
window, under the Permissions tab, click to select the Reset Permissions for
all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions check
box, and then click OK .
5. After that you receive a prompt box, please Click OK to close all windows
and get back to the Registry Editor
6. Double click the Protected Storage System Provider folder, and delete the
subkey folder, usually starts with an "S" and after that many numbers.
7. Exit the registry and restart your system
8. After restart START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | MAIL ACCOUNTS| View or
change existing e-mail accounts | NEXT | Mark your personal default EMail
Account and press CHANGE
9. On this Tab, type your password, click to select Remember Password |
APPLY | OK
10. Start Outlook and try to send/receive

Hi Andreas,
thanks for the reply. I'm having some problems following
some of the steps you outlined. First, I don't
have "Regedit32", but do have "regedit". I don't think
this would make a difference, but maybe it does. When I
opened up to the Protected Storage ... file, I wasn't
sure what you meant by "Mark this key SECURITY
PERMISSIONS ADVANCED. Next, I was confused by
the "Access Control Settings"; would this be the same as
the "Permissions" window? I've edited my registry
successfully before, but for some reason I'm having
problems this time. Any further help would be most
appreciated.

Hi Jeff,
so it is not the REGEDIT32 it is the REGEDT32 without an I between D and T
at the end.
So there is a different. IF you typing this it will be resolve your error.
