Let me try to set the stage for my question.
2 computers on network (actually more than that but 2 helps to simplify the
queation)
1 computer, A, cabled to Router
1 computer, B, wireless
Firewalls on both turned off. (I think)
On A I can see shared docs folders from B
On B I can see A, ( in Windows Explorer, My Network Places, the Network
named MSHome,) but when I click on the A icon i get this error message:" \\ A
is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource.
Contact the server to find out if you have access permissions."
I have, as far a s I can tell, file sharing turned on everywhere. I don't
have any complex security measure in effect. at least non that I know of.
can some one point me to a resource for beginning to troubleshoot my problem ?

thanks

Dennis

Dennis,

A "... not have permission ..." message is usually a misconfigured or overlooked
personal firewall, or other security component. There are several other
possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article
with an open mind.

Is NetBT Enabled on both computers?

We could look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and
"net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read
this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):

I had this same problem and had to turn off the firewall on my antivirus
software. Had to let Norton allow access through its firewall.
