I need some help with a home network problem. MY main system is
running Xp SP1 Home. I have another computer running Win me which I
use for audio work. I can see the other computer when browsing the
network, file sharing is turned on, but I am unable to add the Win ME
system so I can tranfer files back and forth. The "OK" button is
grayed out under the XP system, and the WIN ME systems says it doen't
have access to the Shared folder on me XP system. I'e been unable to
find anything that might help on this, so please, if you have any
thoguhts post them here. THANKS!

What are the settings on your fire walls and virus scans
like. The higher they are the more trouble you will have.
Worth a try, I'm no expert just learning as I go too.

I've written a web site that should help you solve the problem:

Windows XP Network Troubleshooting
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/troubleshoot

Please pay particular attention to these sections:

1. Firewalls: Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection
Firewall on local area network connections -- it's for use only on a
direct modem connection to the Internet. Disable and un-install all
other firewalls while troubleshooting.

2. Protocols: Use only one for File and Printer Sharing. If the
network needs more than one protocol, unbind File and Printer Sharing
from all but one of them.

3. NetBIOS over TCP/IP: Make sure that it's enabled on all computers.
