Hi,

both computers have win xp home, fully updated

Here is the diagram

internet
|
|
router
|
|
---------computer 1
|
|
|
computer 2----printer

How would I set up a wired home network that would enable both computers to
share files and printers?

I've tried using the wizards but I think i've messed it up or did not choose
a correct setting as the home networks never came to exist.

In my previous post, someone suggested i remove firewalls...that has been
done but the problem still persists

**Problem:**
Computer 2 can see and access computer 1 but computer 1 cannot "see" or
access computer 2

With computer 2, I typed "net view" at the command prompt and displayed
computer 1
With computer 1, I typed "net view" at the command prompt and it displayed
an error message saying it could not find the path
I have pinged both systems from each system and it is a positive, the
computers exist

thanks,
chuck

John / Chuck,

If you're running XP Home, and you absolutely know there's no firewall problem
(are you certain?), then check registry setting restrictanonymous.

<http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/07/restrictanonymous-and-your-server.html>

If neither of the above, then consider the slim chance of either a hardware
problem, or an LSP / Winsock problem.

If no help yet, post "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" for both computers.

Hi,

here are the browstat status and the ipconfig for both computers

From computer 1(chuck)
I typed browstat status and got this:
