network places fails to find anything

We had a group of users (all WinXP) accessing a public wireless hot spot.
All were able to access the internet. Using 'Network places' some of the
machines could show the other connected machines and some could not. We
could not find a way to correct the nonresponsive machines. Help would be
appreciated.

Check the My Network Places properties of the Local Area Connection.

All computers would need the Client for MS Networks and the File and Print Sharing installed.

Additionally you may have to check the firewall settings on each PC. The firewall will hide the PC.

If you could not find some of the machines, they are not networked, or
improperly
networked. Go to below for the machines not responsive and troubleshoot, etc:
Start/Control Panel/Network Setup Wizard
