I am having the following problem.

I have a relational database that I have to put on a
server for multiple person usage.

I have split the database and left the database unsplit.
Either way it doesn't matter accessing any of the forms
takes about 3 minutes to open a form.

This happens if I put the database on either a network
drive or an external drive. However if I have the
database on the same area on a local drive it works
exceptionally well.

Does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks

You don't mention what kind of network.

Actually, even if you know nothing about networks...you can ask about the
speed of the network.

I know very little about cars, and engines...but I can certainly ask how
fast the car goes, or what is the speed limits on the route we will take.
These kinds of questions take little, or no technical knowledge of networks,
or take little or no knowledge about how cars and engines work..

So...how fast is your office network compared to the other network?

Are you talking about a lan, or wan?

Anyway, I explain the above problem, and give answers to the above questions
in the following article:

If you are talking about just a lan, then performance should be ok. Check
out the following after reading the above...and you are *just* using a
lan...

The network is the following.

It is a 100mb network. It is infact a LAN. Both networks
are performing at the same. Also if you will remember, I
said that the dbase has a problem even when working on an
external physical harddrive such as an USB drive or USB
connected hdrive.

Does this help at all, I hope so. Let me know if you have
any more thoughts.
