on the PC with Asus A8NVM-CSM, I got the GB controller configured as auto
IP - everything set to default automatic. I was able to ipconfig /release
or renew. I can see the hub show activity for such activity. However I
don't get any effective connection. Not even ping anything including the PC
itself ( pc host name and localhost unless another network card is enabled

what can I do? I have upgrade the bios and drivers

GS:

Had a similiar problem with an A7 motherboard. a few ideas:

--Try using realtek ethernet drivers.
--set the mac number to something other than abcd....or 123.... in the
control panel>system>hardware>device manger>network>nvidia settings.
12 numbers I think for a mac address/guid
--check your motherboard and identify the guid number assigned to the
ethernet port. Sometimes out of the factory they fail to put the guid
(on a label attached to the ide connectors usually) in the bios! Also,
if you have firewire--you want to do the same for the firewire port.
Go in with your bios editor and put in the numbers (at least 12 numbers
long).

Good luck!
