I am having problems with my internet and lan after a vista ultimate update I
applied yesterday.
Almost every website times out and those that do show up are dog slow. I
also can't seem to establish a good flow of data on the W2k3 server box under
RDP. There was no problem before and now it just behaves like the connection
is really really lowband. Like I was on a modem. In Kansas. Connecting to
Timbuktu.
Everything was fine before the update.

I also am having the same problem, I have noticed that logging in
"LOCALY" (not to the domain) causes the machine to run fine, logging
into the domain causes extreme slowdown....

I end up with 50-60 instances of scvhost running all kind of stuff.

I also have noticed that Microsoft OneCare runs to about 20% then
hangs (both local & domain)

I believe you have a compatibility problem between Vista and the router of
you Internet connection. Vista has implemented a feature called TCP Windows
Scaling (it is actually a published standard) but caused a lot of problems
with older generation routers. Check if your routers have new firmware that
claim they are compatible with Vista (preferred action) or do the following
to temporarily disable the Vista implementation:

1) Run cmd as admin
2) type the following into the command prompt:

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

3) exit command prompt.

You shouldn't even have to reboot. To reset it, replace disabled with
normal.

I did not have these problems one week ago....

I have been running Vista for 3 months without a problem, last week
the problems started (after updates)....

For the record, everything runs GREAT if I login locally to the
machine. The problem starts when I login to the my domain.

Thank you mlai
- I will try your solution when I get home, but I also had no trouble with
my system prior to yesterday's update. And I was online from early Sunday
morning until the afternoon.

"Lewis Cypher", I have to ask, what do you mean when you say you're logged
in "locally"?
I don't exactly follow. I am not running a domain (that I know of) so this
situation may not apply to yours.

Scott,

Yes I run a domain at home...
The problem only rears it's ugly head when I login to the domain, and
not to the local machine.

I have noticed this on another VISA machine also (on my domain).

All XP machines are fine, just the VISTA machines are having a
problem.
