I'm breaking new ground here so go easy.

I can access a certain page of data on ancestry.co.uk using IE but
with Firefox I simply go into a ' You are sending an encrypted message
over an unencrypted communication etc... ' loop, i.e. I click
CONTINUE but unlike usual, the banner subsequenty reappears.

I have had a couple of people try the same data and it works OK.
I removed Firefox and reinstalled a fresh download, no difference.

Is there a program that will log what's going on so that I might get a
clue where the difference is between the two browsers ?

TIA Andy

You need a network packet tracer/logger.

Usual recommendation is ethereal, at <http://www.ethereal.com/>.

It takes a bit of effort to learn, but it works.

Thanks for that Gary.

Obviously it would point to the difference but I found it locked up my
PC all the time and stopped me surfing at all. I guess I was doing
something wrong.
